Yasmin Khan FRSA

 

     Biography

Yasmin Khan BSc MSc FRSA is a Cultural Consultant with over 20 years of grassroots experience at the forefront of public engagement with science, art, and cultural heritage. She is the founding director of Covalent Creatives, a multidisciplinary consultancy, co-creating imaginative content solutions for client challenges in partnership with creative industries.

She is currently working as Programme Consultant at the Art Fund, co-producing a pilot Curatorial Diversity leadership initiative for UK museums and galleries. Yasmin has recently been awarded a 2023-24 Fellowship at the AKO Storytelling Institute, University of Arts London, on the theme of ‘Truth and Lies in Museums’.

As a seasoned museum professional, Yasmin collaborates with artists, galleries, and festivals to deliver transformative visitor experiences and events. She is the curator of Outwitting Cancer recently exhibited at the Francis Crick Institute, Britain’s largest biomedical lab. She was an exhibition advisor for the Barbican’s ‘Into the Unknown’ – a Sci-Fi blockbuster which toured globally. Her earlier roles include being the Interpretation Manager at the British Library and Curator Team Manager at the Science Museum.

Yasmin was commissioned by Tara Theatre to evaluate Artists Make Space, an international programme funded by the British Council to foster co-creation between artists in Bangladesh and the UK.

She worked closely with Morris Hargreaves McIntyre to jointly lead a public consultation on the placement of the 4th cast of Physical Energy, a prominent art sculpture owned by the Watts Gallery Trust.

Previous assignments include being an Artistic Quality Assessor for Arts Council England and a Specialist Assessor for the British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund. She was commissioned by Colchester and Ipswich Museums to produce a comprehensive Decolonising Strategy which enabled them to successfully be awarded a £4.3m redevelopment grant by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Yasmin led the inception of the Cultural Governance Alliance from conception through to delivery along being founding commissioning editor of its website. In parallel, she was the inaugural conference producer for Governance Now, launched in 2018. She has served as trustee for the Culture Trust, fulfilled two tenures as a committee member for Arts Council England’s Accreditation Scheme and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

In recognition of her work in science and culture, the Wellcome Trust selected Yasmin for the Clore Leadership Fellowship in 2011.

As an accredited coach and Action Learning Set facilitator, her most rewarding work is empowering clients to achieve their goals and perform at their best.
